Mission Statement
We the officers, thespians, and students of Ben Franklin Academy and Troupe #89546 who have dedicated ourselves to the dramatic arts, take it upon ourselves to uphold the following tenants in our efforts to entertain, create, and function as a whole.
The International Thespian Society (ITS), is an honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students located at more than 4,600 affiliated secondary schools across America and abroad. The mission of ITS is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts. Students become eligible for induction into this honor society by demonstrating virtuous work in the theatre and related arts.
The theatre skills, experience, and dedication Junior Thespians develop will give them a head start the performance skills needed in high school. Also, by being a member of the Junior Thespian troupe, they’ll enter their freshman year with half of the Thespian points they’ll need for induction into the high school Thespian troupe.
Students will receive student leadership opportunities at school, state and national levels and are allowed to participate and compete at the Colorado Thespian Conference (ThesCon). They will help shape and grow the performing arts department at BFA through leadership, teambuilding and outreach.
To attend/compete in ThesCon this December students must be in the Drama elective and/or be a member of Troupe #89546

- Ensure a high level of professionalism and organization in all that we do to achieve our goals, while simultaneously maintaining a positive, and intimate environment for all members to feel welcome and productive in.
- Provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community within the school that promotes creativity, education, and self expression for any and all who wish explore the theatrical arts.
- Foster a positive outreaching presence with the larger local community characterized by service, education, and company promotion.
